made an appointment with Riva I just wanted a trim I don't usually like talking to the barber I've got a lot of anxiety but today I was in a good mood and explained thoroughly with a few pictures prepared explaining that I wanted it slightly longer than the photos then we small talked after the fact I felt judged she didn't listen to anything I said shaved my head but the whole time had my dry hair pressed against my face so I couldn't see what she was doing and bumped my eyebrow piercing twice pure amateur hour I tried to tip but either her I phone 4 had screen issues or her instruction was wrong because I was unable. money spent better elsewhere.
Paul Van Dyck was my stylist. As an ethnic woman, I am always very anxious when I sit down in the stylist chair as I feel like there are not a lot of stylists that know how to work with ethnic hair. Paul set me at ease quickly & did an excellent job. After the cut, I returned home & at second glance I felt that I really wanted more length off. I called Paul & he quickly got me scheduled back at the salon. We talked more about the length I was looking for & it came out looking perfect. Paul did not charge anything for the second appointment, he was just concerned with making sure I was absolutely happy with the cut. He was amazing & I definitely would return & recommend him to anyone!
I've been seeing Brooke Wolfe at Topaz Salon for about 3 years now, and I can't imagine anyone else to cut and color my hair. I can't say I give the most detailed description of what I want, but she always somehow manages to read my mind and give me exactly what I envisioned. Brooke has a knack for cut and color correction. I rotate seasonally between different shades of blonde and my natural light brown hair, and every shade she's given me always turns out amazing. She's super trustworthy and keeps impeccable notes on each client. I live in way souty austin now but I still always make the time to see Brooke at Topaz!
Jenè rocks! I have the most difficult curly hair (fine, frizzy nightmare), and from the moment I sat in her chair, Jenè knew right away the exact technique to fix my curls. She took weight out where it needed it and followed the natural movement of my hair throughout the cut. Amazing.
Brook gave me the a great haircut and the best balayage color i've ever received! My hair is dark dark dark brown, (nearly black) and she made me confident she could achieve an obvious contrast (for my upcoming wedding updo) that was also super natural and non streaky and she achieved just that. I've received countless compliments so far.
She was super easy to chat with and was focused and detailed. I loved that this salon kept it real and didn't give off a stuck up vibe (which I find more often than not these days.) Highly recommend and will be returning!!
