I really stumbled across this salon-although I work right across from it.
You really have to go see Alex- he is a real magician when it comes to hair. I have been to several high end salons in Austin and he pointed out their mistakes.
His cut and color are spot on. I have never felt so beautiful and received so many compliments after getting my hair done.
I strongly recommend making your next appointment with Alex Hawkins- he is the best hair stylist you'll ever find.
I got a keratin treatment from Rocco at Hair Shack about a month ago. It's the first time I'd ever had that done, and given the high expectations I wanted to wait a bit to see how it held up before writing a review. I'm pleased to say: so far, so good. My hair is naturally fine, flyaway/frizzy, with a very strong wave. Since the brazilian blowout, it's been much easier to tame with just a tiny bit of product, and I've been able to make it look almost salon-good with my own straight-iron (and limited skills). Rocco did a great job. I'm looking forward to many more weeks of calm hair.
Nicholas is wonderful! He has cut two of my girls (11 and 13 yrs) hair and they love it. He made them feel comfortable, listened to them and then made suggestions on what might work for each of them.
My oldest daughter wanted to get her hair dyed purple and blue (!) so we went to Nicholas and he made it happen! He spent time talking to her about the whole process and she really appreciated knowing what was going to happen before he got started coloring her hair. She has gotten so many compliments and feels great.
If you are looking for a stylist for yourself or your teenager.....I would recommend Nicholas for sure!
Nicholas Rocco is the best! He is a master at his craft. He has been doing my hair for over 2 years :) his cuts and styles are very fresh and I have yet to find someone in austin as good as doing "blonde" as him. Huge factor to mention he is FAST!! He can do a full head of highlights and a cut in an hour and a half. I hate being at a hairdresser for 4 hours every 6 weeks!! C'mon, nobody has time for that!!
This gem is tucked away in an unassuming shopping center. Warm and friendly service meets a contemporary open layout which is kept spotless by the hardworking employees inside. I got a haircut and shave and was hesitant at first because I'm more of a "supercuts" kinda guy. But I was met with a barber that was laid back and willing to guide me through what I wanted. The haircut came out perfect!
